Paneer Tikka ~ South Asian cheese bread tikka


Paneer is prepared from the curdled curd and it is rich in Protein. There are many dishes we can prepare with Paneer and in this post I will demonstrate how to prepare the tikka.

Paneer can be prepared at home or it is available in any Indian store and they also give nice taste.

The preparation is very easy and takes only 20-30 mins which is very less when compared to the delicious taste it gives. However you need to marinate it for atleast 2 hours but if you can manage to marinate it for more time it improves the taste.

Ingredients:


    Paneer – cut into medium sized cubes
    Onion – cut into small cubes
    Capsicum – cut into small cubes
    Tomato – cut into small cubes


    Red Chilli pwd
    Salt
    Coriander pwd
    Cumin pwd
    Garam Masala pwd or Tandoori masala pwd
    Curd

Note: You can always vary the quantity and proportion of ingredients as per your taste. You even can include additional items if you feel they enhance the taste of this dish.

Preparation:


    Cut the Paneer, Onion, Capsicum and Tomato into medium-sized cubes
    Marinate them well with all the ingredients under “to marinate” and refrigerate it for at least 2 hrs.

We can prepare it with the help of a conventional oven and also by stove top. I will explain both the ways. Tikka prepared through conventional oven gives more taste than those of prepared on stove.

Stove top:


    Take a wide pan and pour 2 tbs of oil.
    Add all the marinated pieces without any juice.
    Stir them uniformly untill they change the colour.
    Take them off into a serving bowl.

Conventional Oven:

    Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
    Take the skewers or the bamboo sticks and stick the onion, paneer, capsicum, tomato into it. Make sure you leave sufficient place in between.
    Repeat the order untill you are done with all the pieces.
    Take a baking pan and place the sticks on top of it.
    Keep the pan in the oven and check in between. You may need to turn them over after a while.
    After around 20 mins your Paneer tikka or Paneer sizzler must be ready to be served.

This can be served in any get together.
